Becoming a Leader
The Management Committee consists of five officers: a Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and Outings Chair. These officers are elected to the Committee by the 20s & 30s membership. Candidates for election need to be members of the 20s & 30s Singles Section and members of the Sierra Club, but don't have to be outings leaders. Enthusiasm, reliability, team spirit, and a desire to have fun are also very useful!
Anyone may submit his or her own name--or someone else's name--to the Nominating Committee for consideration as a candidate. Candidates can also be nominated directly through a petition signed by ten Section members. Nominations will be due in early September.
Traditionally, elections for the Section's Management Committee take place in November. Ballots will be sent in the mail to all 20s & 30s members who are eligible to vote. To be eligible to vote, one must be a member of this section and a member of the Sierra Club.
To become an outings leader for 20s & 30s, you must be a current member of the Sierra Club and a member of this section, and you must complete the requirements of the Leader Training Program. That program is offered by the Leadership Training Committee of the Angeles Chapter twice a year.
If you have an interest in becoming an outings leader for this section, please contact our Leadership Development Coordinator Steve Han at firstname.lastname@example.org.
To become a skipper, you must complete the Skipper Requirements that are listed in the policies of the Sailing Program. If you have an interest in becoming a skipper for this section, please contact our Sailing Chair Gary Vidor at email@example.com.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for 20s & 30s, a good place to start is at our next Newsletter Mailing Party; any and all volunteers are welcome there.
Or you can just ask! 20s & 30s has a large number of dedicated leaders and volunteers who perform the many vital functions necessary to keep the Section running. However, there is always a need for more people to help out--on both a regular and short-term basis. If you are interested in getting more involved, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator James Eble at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Any member of 20s & 30s may organize and host a social event or a meeting for this section; you do not need to be an outings leader. To do so, just submit an activities write-up to our Outings Chair Steve Han by the Deadline To Submit Events. You can submit it to him by e-mail at email@example.com or by mail at 22240 Victory Blvd. #109; Woodland Hills, CA 91367.
For ideas and suggestions, you may want to look at similar events listed in Activities or in the section newsletter. Or you may want to attend our Outings Planning Party.
