In order to participate in a Sierra Club outing, you will need to sign a liability waiver. If you would like to read a copy of the waiver prior to attending the outing, please see http://www.sierraclub.org/outings/chapter/forms/ .
In the interests of facilitating the logistics of some outings, it is customary that participants make voluntary carpooling arrangements. The Sierra Club does not have insurance for carpooling arrangements and assumes no liability for them. Carpooling, ride sharing or anything similar is strictly a private arrangement among participants. Participants assume the risks associated with this travel.

C: SKI MAMMOTH:
 
Enjoy 2 full days of skiing at our most popular ski resort in CA. Rideshare and stay in comfortable condo with Jacuzzi and Sauna. Downhill, XC, snow board, or snow shoe. $160 with SC#/$190 non-members ($50 cancellation penalty). Includes all meals and 2 nights lodging. Group size is limited. DEC 22            SUN         20s & 30s /NATURAL SCIENCE
O: EATON CANYON TO HENNINGER FLATS
Scenic views of the San Gabriel Valley await on this well-maintained fire road up to Henninger Flats Ranger Station (6 mi, 1800'). The Ranger Station has a active tree nursery, as well as an fascinating historical center, which captures the rich hundred year history in the rugged surroundings. We may get lucky and spot a mule deer or woodpecker in the campground. Lite lunch and snacks at the top of Henninger Flats. Bring two quarts of water and wear sturdy hiking boots. Moderate-level conditioning required. Meet at 9 AM at Eaton Canyon Nature Center parking lot (in front of the Center entrance - 1750 N. Altadena Drive ). Directions: Take 210 freeway East until Altadena off ramp. Turn left and go about 3 miles. Eaton Canyon Nature Center entrance is 200 yards past the intersection of Altadena Drive and New York Ave in the city of Altadena . Rain cancels. Leaders: GARY CROW and DAVID GOLDSTEIN.

FEB 2                 SUN  WILDERNESS ADVENTURES/20s & 30s
O: BIG TUJUNGA TO TOM LUCAS TRAIL CAMP
8 mile, 2,000 ft gain jaunt up woodsy Trail Canyon to picnic lunch spot. Hike includes waterfall view and many stream crossings (so maybe wet feet!). Rain enhances the experience (so trip not cancelled by rain). Meet 9 AM Vons parking lot (corner of Foothill & Mt. Gleason Rd, Sunland). Bring water, lunch, lug soles. O: PRESIDENT'S DAY WEEKEND CAR-CAMP IN DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK
This is no ordinary desert! Death Valley National Park has more than 3.3 million acres of spectacular desert scenery, interesting and rare desert wildlife, complex geology, undisturbed wilderness, and sites of historical and cultural interest. Bounded on the west by 11,049 foot Telescope Peak and on the east by 5,475 foot Dante's View, Badwater is the lowest point (-282 feet) in the western hemisphere. Some of the possible activities are: Valley floor tour, Hike to Zabriske Point, sand dunes, Scotty’s Castle, Ghost towns, Opera house visit (we will actually see the Amagrosa Opera Show—this building itself is beyond description) and much more. Cost includes one dinner with happy hour and all breakfasts. Enjoy challenging hands-on sailing; explore island, snorkel, and dinghy. Expect brisk winds and high seas. Food expense $25 extra paid at the boat. Limited space.
