Call or write your member of Congress and urge them to support stronger fuel-economy standards for cars, light trucks, and Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs). In California, cars and other motor vehicles create half of the carbon dioxide (CO2) and other gases that cause Global Warming. The single biggest step the U.S. can take to reduce global warming is to require automakers to produce more fuel-efficient cars.
PLEASE call or write your Representative and urge them to sign the Boehlert-Dicks Clean Car Letter in support of increased mile per gallon, or Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE), standards. The Boehlert-Dicks letter urges President Clinton to "work with Congress to implement" the law setting automotive fuel economy standards.
